Oink Oink!: Ma Po Tofu (non-traditional)



Ma Po Tofu

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp Vegetable oil
2 Tbsp Onions (minced)
1 Tbsp Garlic (minced)
200 Grams Pork (minced)
1/2 Cup Mushrooms sliced  (optional)
1/4 Cup Bell Peppers minced (optional)
Salt and Pepper
Ma Po Tofu Sauce (half packet)
1 Packet Tofu (silken)
2 Tbsp Fresh onion leaves (minced)


Directions:
  1. Add the oil in a heated pan.
  2. Cook the onions until translucent.
  3. Add the garlic and cook for a few seconds.
  4. Stir in the pork and cook for about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Add the mushrooms and bell peppers. Cook for about 2-3 minutes. You can actually skip this part as these are not part of the original recipe.
  6. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Add the Ma Po Tofu sauce and simmer for about 5 minutes.

  8. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  9. Carefully stir in the tofu (cubed). I made the mistake of getting the firm tofu instead of the silken one :p Tasted fine but I still prefer the silken one for this dish.
  10. Garnish with the onion leaves.
  11. Plate and Enjoy! :)
