It Wasn't Moo: Hamburger Steak with Mushroom Sauce

Hamburger Steak with Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients:

2 tbsp cooking oil
Hamburger Patties (Recipe in this link)
Mashed Potatoes (Optional.  Recipe in this link)
4 tbsp butter
1 packet or 250 grams of mushrooms (sliced)
1 tbsp fresh chives (finely chopped)
1/4 cup heavy cream
Salt and Pepper
Corn and Cherry tomatoes (Optional)
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Directions:

1. Cook the burger patties for about 4-6 minutes on each side depending on the size of your patties.
Set aside.

2. In the same pan, add 2 tbsp of butter.

3. Add the mushrooms.  I used porcini mushrooms.

4. Stir and make sure all the mushroom pieces are coated with the butter.
Cook for about 5 minutes.

5. Add the chives and season with salt and pepper. Cook for another 3-5 minutes until the mushrooms are tender.
Set aside.

6. In the same pan, add the remaining butter, cream and season with salt and pepper.
Cook in low heat for about 3-5 minutes.  I didn't make roux as usually when I do it, it fails :p

7. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed (I added more cream here).
Add the cayenne and cook for about another 3 minutes until the sauce has thickened and coats the back of the spoon.
You can add back the burger and mushrooms in the sauce, or you can serve separately.

8. Serve with your favourite side dishes (above: mashed potatoes and corn and tomatoes.
Plate and Enjoy! :)
